WTG Electrical Engineer

WTG Electrical Engineer required for a major offshore wind developer based in Scotland

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that safety by design is applied considering the engineering, construction, operational and decommissioning phases; and that health and environmental issues are considered at all stages of the engineering process.
  • Contribute to risk assessments and mitigation strategies to ensure the successful execution of offshore wind project.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, analyse, and optimise electrical systems for offshore wind projects, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Ensure the Interface / Responsibility matrix is up to date and package is delivering on the plan through regular coordination.
  • Responsible for the technical management of the WTG elements of wind farm overall system design (i.e. studies, protection, SCADA, etc.).
  • Review power system studies, fault analysis, and protection coordination to ensure the reliability and safety of offshore wind electrical systems.
  • Electrical point of contact for detailed interface management between WTG Package and transmission works package, WTG substructure and array cable (marine works) package.
  • Provide technical support during project development, construction, commissioning, and operational phases, addressing any electrical engineering challenges that may arise.
  • Interface with contractors and regulatory bodies to ensure effective communication and project progression.
  • Develop project documentation such as the project’s Basis of Design, Scopes of Work for contractors, and Requirement Specifications for packages.
  • Develop engineering documentation such as technical notes, reports, decision logs and change notes.
  • Supervise contractor activities and review contractor deliverables to ensure that design packages stay consistent with the Basis of Design and project requirements. Develop and respond to comment sheets and technical queries.

Requirements

  • Operation of MS Office systems and other IT based project management software.
  • Good technical, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Familiarity with UK and preferably European electrical codes and standards.
  • Demonstrable experience in the engineering design process of offshore wind farms.
  • Offshore Wind Experience.
  • Degree qualified Engineer.
