Asset Manager

Position: Asset Manager (BESS)

Location: Tokyo

Key Responsibilities

1. Development & Construction Phases

  • Review operations-related details for the Final Investment Decision (FID) Memo.

  • Prepare projects for commercial operations using onboarding protocols.

  • Manage project loan agreements (administer drawdowns, covenants, and lender relationships).

  • Track construction progress, variations, and issues under the EPC agreement.

2. Operations Phase

  • Compliance & Admin: Maintain the Project Compliance Dashboard (tracking warranties, insurance, bank guarantees, and regulatory requirements).

  • Performance Tracking: Monitor plant performance, respond to outages promptly, and coordinate with contractors/market operators to maximize availability for energy trading.

  • Reporting: Prepare technical, safety (WHSE), commercial, and financial reports for the board, lenders, and stakeholders.

  • Contract Management: Take ultimate responsibility for SPV contract administration (O&M, Route-to-Market/offtake, grid connection, and financial agreements).

  • Financials: Manage operations budgets, revenue reporting, invoicing, and market settlements.


Core Requirements

  • Language: Fluent/Business-level proficiency in both English and Japanese (written and spoken).

  • Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of Japanese electricity markets, energy trading, settlement periods, and trading algorithms.

  • Contract Management: Proven experience reviewing contracts, managing contractors, and handling underperformance or procurement.

  • Financial Literacy: Understanding of project finance, debt-drawdown, and loan agreement management.

  • Stakeholder Management: Experience presenting and delivering materials to senior stakeholders, lenders, and board members.
