An Asset Manager role for a global battery energy storage business, responsible for preparing and managing the operational phase of utility-scale BESS projects in Japan, while also helping establish best-practice asset management processes across the global portfolio. The role is based in Tokyo with flexible working arrangements and focuses on supporting the transition to a low-carbon energy system through battery storage investments.
During the development phase, the Asset Manager supports the review of Final Investment Decision (FID) materials, ensuring operational requirements are properly considered. During construction, they prepare projects for operations in line with onboarding protocols, manage loan and financing agreements including covenants and drawdowns, and coordinate closely with the construction team to stay aligned on EPC progress, risks, and variations.
In the operations phase, the role is responsible for ensuring full contractual and regulatory compliance through structured tracking systems, monitoring plant performance and responding to outages, and coordinating with contractors and market operators to maintain high availability for trading. The Asset Manager also prepares and reviews technical, financial, and commercial reporting for internal leadership, lenders, and external stakeholders, and is responsible for SPV contract administration across O&M agreements, offtake contracts, financing arrangements, grid connection agreements, and insurance and warranty management.
Additional responsibilities include managing operational budgets and revenue reporting, leading internal and stakeholder meetings, ensuring optimal technical performance of BESS assets with feedback loops to trading teams, overseeing invoicing and settlement processes, and supporting licensing and regulatory compliance for project operations
