Business Development Lead

The Client is a renewable energy platform funded by one of the world’s leading infrastructure asset manager.

Location: Tokyo, Japan

In the Business Development Lead role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end origination and commercial structuring of utility-scale renewable energy projects.

This position is open exclusively to Japanese native speakers or candidates with native Japanese proficiency.

  • Originate and secure new renewable energy opportunities through selforigination, tender participation, acquisitions, and partnerships
  • Build and manage a highquality, investable opportunity pipeline that supports the longterm ambition of the country business.
  • Develop and maintain active and trusted engagement with central and local government authorities to support market access, tender participation, and policy advocacy
  • Monitor regulatory and policy developments and proactively assess implications for pipeline growth, commercial structuring, and market entry strategy.
  • Build and manage relationships with industry associations, developers, landowners, consultants, financiers, and commercial partners.
  • Lead commercial discussions and negotiations for PPAs, CPPAs, term sheets, MOUs, and acquisition agreements with counterparties.
  • Manage and coordinate tender bid processes, including bid strategy, pricing inputs, internal approvals, and commercial structuring
  • Commercial Leadership: Lead cross-functional teams through feasibility, due diligence, and the negotiation of both State and Corporate PPAs.

Qualifications:

This position is open exclusively to Japanese native speakers or candidates with native Japanese proficiency.

  • Bachelor’s degree or postgraduate qualifications in Engineering, Science, Real Estate, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience across the renewable energy, power, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Proven track record in project origination, tender participation, acquisitions, and PPA / CPPA negotiation
  • Strong familiarity with renewable energy market structures and regulatory frameworks in the country.
