Taylor Hopkinson is partnering with a global renewable energy leader to appoint a Country Manager to spearhead its growth in Japan. Backed by one of the world’s largest independent power producers, this is a rare opportunity to lead a fast-growing platform across one of Asia’s most exciting clean energy markets.
The Role
As Country Manager, you’ll drive the full development and investment lifecycle – from greenfield origination through to project execution and operation. You’ll shape market strategy, build partnerships, and deliver a pipeline of utility-scale renewable projects aligned with Japan’s energy transition goals.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead origination, development, and execution of solar, storage, and hybrid renewable projects in Japan.

Build and maintain relationships with utilities, regulators, landowners, and government agencies.

Oversee permitting, environmental, and interconnection processes.

Negotiate development and partnership agreements, and coordinate with Legal, Finance, and EPC teams.

Develop and deliver project budgets, business plans, and investment proposals.

Provide market insights and strategic updates to regional and global leadership.

Build, mentor, and expand a high-performing local team to drive business growth.
About You

10+ years’ experience in renewable energy project development, particularly focused on solar and BESS projects in Japan.

Proven success in leading full-cycle renewable projects and managing cross-functional teams.

Deep understanding of Japan’s energy market, regulatory environment, and stakeholder landscape.

Strategic mindset with strong commercial and negotiation skills.

Fluent in Japanese and English, with excellent cross-cultural communication skills.
