Role Overview
We are seeking a bilingual (Korean & English) Senior Mechanical Project Manager with extensive site-based experience in ground-up construction projects. This role will lead all mechanical project management activities across the full project lifecycle, including design coordination, construction, commissioning, and handover.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering large-scale, technically complex projects (e.g., data centers or advanced technology facilities), ensuring alignment between stakeholders, design teams, and construction partners.
Key Responsibilities
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for senior client stakeholders, supporting key project decisions.
- Lead coordination with design consultants, contractors, and authorities to ensure project objectives are met.
- Manage contract administration, negotiations, and dispute resolution.
- Facilitate high-level meetings to align stakeholders with project goals.
Permitting & Regulatory Strategy
- Lead engagement with local authorities and regulatory bodies.
- Develop and manage permitting strategies and approval processes.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and building regulations.
- Identify and mitigate regulatory risks impacting schedule or cost.
EHS Leadership
- Oversee project-wide environmental, health, and safety programs.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations and industry best practices.
- Conduct audits and enforce corrective actions where necessary.
- Promote a strong safety culture across all project phases.
Project Delivery & Execution
- Manage full project lifecycle from feasibility through to commissioning and handover.
- Coordinate design and construction activities, resolving complex issues proactively.
- Track project schedule, budget, and quality performance.
- Lead risk management and procurement strategies, including long-lead items.
- Oversee delivery of mechanical systems such as HVAC and fire protection.
Cost & Commercial Management
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cost control processes.
- Manage tendering, bid evaluations, and contract administration.
- Review and approve payments, variations, and claims.
Construction & Quality Oversight
- Liaise with contractors to monitor progress and resolve technical challenges.
- Ensure QA/QC standards are maintained throughout construction.
- Oversee testing, commissioning, and project closeout activities.
Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor project teams, including PMs and QS professionals.
- Allocate resources and manage team performance.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of site-based experience in construction projects.
- Experience delivering large-scale commercial or mission-critical projects preferred.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, cost control, procurement, and risk management.
- Familiarity with local construction regulations and permitting processes in Korea.
- Bilingual proficiency in Korean and English.
- Experience with project management tools (e.g., Procore), scheduling software (e.g., Primavera), and BIM tools.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with HVAC and/or fire protection systems is advantageous.
