Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated SENIOR PROJECT DEVELOPER to join our client’s dynamic team in Budapest.

The Senior Project Developer will drive the creation and advancement of renewable energy projects-including solar, wind, and energy storage-from initial concept through to construction-ready stage. This role is accountable for overseeing all facets of project development, such as site selection, obtaining permits, engaging with stakeholders, and financial analysis.

This position calls for a strategic and analytical professional with proven project management expertise and a comprehensive understanding of the energy market.

Responsibilities:

  • Source and assess potential renewable energy projects that align with the company’s long-term strategy and growth plans.
  • Oversee and manage the permitting and authorization procedures, including environmental studies and applications for grid interconnection.
  • Negotiate and secure land rights or lease agreements, while maintaining positive relationships with landowners and local stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal departments such as engineering, legal, and finance, as well as coordinate activities with external advisors and consultants.
  • Plan, track, and update project timelines, financial forecasts, and risk management frameworks throughout the development phase.
  • Draft investment documentation and business cases to support internal decision-making and project approvals.
  • Stay informed on regulatory and policy changes affecting renewable energy projects and ensure compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Act as a company representative in discussions and negotiations with government authorities, partners, and other relevant stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • University Degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in similar roles.
  • Knowledge of the energy market.
  • Proven track record of delivering utility-scale projects.
  • Strong knowledge of permitting, grid connection, and land acquisition processes.
  • Must be proficient in Hungarian and English (spoken and written).
