Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Technical Asset Manager to join our client’s dynamic team in Madrid.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Asset Management & Oversight

  • Take ownership of technical asset management for assigned wind portfolios, while providing technical support for solar PV assets.
  • Manage and coordinate daily interactions with Asset Management and O&M service providers, ensuring adherence to all contractual terms.
  • Oversee third‑party contractors and advisors, including insurers, market operators, and other external service providers.
  • Build and maintain thorough knowledge of SPV‑level agreements, such as O&M contracts, asset management agreements, grid connections, land leases, and commercial arrangements.
  • Ensure full compliance with technical, commercial, legal, and regulatory standards across all assets.
  • Review, challenge, and assess service provider procedures and processes to verify compliance with contractual obligations, internal standards, and applicable legislation.
  • Analyze monthly O&M and performance reports, identify performance gaps or contract deviations, and drive remediation actions.
  • Perform site visits and technical audits to evaluate asset condition, operational availability, and long‑term reliability.
  • Supervise and ensure compliance with cybersecurity requirements related to operational systems and data.
  • Enforce strict adherence to HSE standards and support efficient management of incidents and insurance claims.

Performance Monitoring, Analytics & Optimization

  • Define, track, and report technical and financial KPIs for wind and solar assets.
  • Conduct detailed performance analysis, including internal benchmarking and comparison with industry standards.
  • Produce recurring asset and portfolio performance reports, clearly identifying risks, deviations, and value‑creation opportunities.
  • Identify, propose, and implement technical, operational, and contractual improvement initiatives.
  • Support assessments related to life‑extension, repowering, and optimization strategies, with a strong focus on wind assets.

Operating Cost Management (OPEX)

  • Drive OPEX tracking and cost‑control initiatives across the portfolio.
  • Identify efficiency improvements and cost‑reduction opportunities without compromising asset availability or performance.
  • Monitor revenue streams and work closely with internal teams to explain performance variances and financial risks.

Stakeholder Engagement & Strategic Support

  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for key stakeholders, including O&M contractors, market agents, landowners, suppliers, and regulatory authorities.
  • Maintain frequent collaboration with UK‑based partners and clients, particularly in relation to offshore wind assets.
  • Provide technical support to M&A activities, including due diligence reviews, asset assessments, and post‑acquisition integration.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of internal asset‑management tools, processes, and reporting standards.

Required Competencies & Skills

  • Strong and proven expertise in wind energy systems; offshore wind experience is preferred, with onshore wind expertise also acceptable.
  • Solid technical understanding of solar PV technology, particularly regulated assets (experience under RD 413/2014 is required).
  • Good working knowledge of contractual and legal frameworks related to Asset Management and O&M.
  • Fluent written and spoken English (minimum C1/C2 level), with regular direct interaction with UK‑based stakeholders.
  • Strong commitment to quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
  • Highly autonomous and proactive, able to manage multiple workstreams across different functions.
  • Fast learner with the ability to grasp complex topics such as energy regulation, taxation, financial structures, and business models.
  • Collaborative team player with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical mindset, comfortable handling and interpreting large datasets.
  • Advanced Excel capability (including pivot tables, lookups, conditional formatting, and dashboard development).
  • Strong PowerPoint skills, with the ability to translate technical analysis into clear, executive‑level presentations.
  • Hands‑on experience using project‑management tools (e.g., Smartsheet, MS Project, Planner) in O&M or asset‑management environments.
  • Practical experience working with SCADA data, including trends, alarms, and performance curves, focused on operational efficiency, availability, and forecasting (excluding system administration).

Education & Professional Experience

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • +5 years of experience in the renewable energy sector, particularly in project execution, asset management, or O&M roles.
  • Proven hands‑on experience with wind assets (offshore wind farm exposure is a strong advantage).
  • Demonstrated experience managing regulated solar PV assets.
  • Familiarity with additional renewable energy technologies is considered an asset.
