Technical Design Manager – Renewable Energy

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a globally recognised organisation at the forefront of advanced energy storage and battery technologies. As part of continued growth across Europe, we are seeking multiple Technical Design Managers to support a rapidly expanding portfolio of grid-scale renewable and energy storage projects.

This is a home-based role offering the chance to work within a highly skilled and collaborative project development team, contributing to the delivery of cutting-edge energy infrastructure across international markets.


The Role

As a Technical Design Manager, you will play a key role in leading technical design activities across the full project lifecycle – from early-stage feasibility through to delivery and commissioning.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading power system network design activities, including grid applications, negotiations, and optimisation through to financial close and beyond
  • Delivering engineering feasibility studies and driving value engineering initiatives
  • Supporting the design of large-scale energy storage and renewable systems (including SLDs, layouts, and equipment specifications)
  • Reviewing and challenging third-party (ICP & BoP) engineering outputs
  • Conducting electrical and power system studies, including transient and dynamic analysis
  • Guiding network design from HV (up to 400kV) through to LV systems
  • Supporting bid, procurement, and commercial teams with technical and techno-economic input
  • Providing technical support during design, construction, and commissioning phases
  • Establishing and maintaining design standards, including the use of BIM, 3D CAD, and digital tools

We are looking for a technically strong and commercially aware professional with a passion for the energy transition.

Requirements:

  • Strong experience in power system engineering and electrical network design
  • Knowledge of renewable energy systems and grid connections (HV to LV)
  • Familiarity with substations (AIS & GIS), inverters, and control systems
  • Experience with tools such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory, BIM360, Revit, AutoCAD 3D
  • Solid understanding of Transmission & Distribution networks
