Commercial Manager (Solar/BESS)
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Commercial Manager (Associate / Senior Associate) to join our client’s team. This role focuses on supporting project acquisitions and divestments across solar and BESS portfolios, working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure smooth commercial execution.
Responsibilities:
* Support sourcing and evaluation of renewable energy project opportunities (PV/BESS)
* Prepare initial screening materials including capacity, grid, permits, land, and FIP status
* Conduct basic commercial assessments and share insights with internal teams
* Coordinate with development, technical, legal, and finance teams during early-stage evaluation
* Support due diligence processes, including NDA execution and data room setup
* Prepare and manage DD question lists and consolidate stakeholder Q&A
* Coordinate with internal teams and external advisors to gather required information
* Summarize due diligence findings for internal review
* Support asset sale processes, including VDR management and investor communication
* Act as first point of contact for investor queries and support presentation materials
* Assist in drafting transaction documents (LOIs, term sheets, meeting minutes)
* Track deal progress, manage timelines, and follow up with stakeholders
Requirements:
* Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Economics, Law, or related field
* 4-7 years of experience in renewable energy, ideally within PV or BESS
* Working knowledge of project development and due diligence processes
* Experience supporting M&A, project finance, or commercial transactions is preferred
* Strong Excel skills (financial analysis, sensitivity analysis)
* Proficiency in PowerPoint and Word for professional documentation
* Fluency in Japanese (native level) and English (business level)
* Strong attention to detail, organization, and stakeholder coordination skills
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment
