Chief Commercial Officer

Taylor Hopkinson was ask to exclusively search for a Chief Commercial Officer for one of the fastest-growing and most dynamic players in the solar industry, offering high-quality solar racking and tracker solutions designed to maximise energy yield, enable rapid installation, and deliver industry-leading cost efficiency.

The US CCO is responsible for developing and executing the company’s commercial strategy across sales, marketing, and business development to drive revenue growth and market expansion. This role leads all commercial teams, manages key customer and partner relationships, identifies new market opportunities, oversees deal origination and negotiation, and ensures alignment between commercial execution and overall business objectives. The position requires strong leadership, deep knowledge of the solar energy sector, financial acumen, and experience navigating complex, long-cycle sales environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the U.S. commercial strategy across sales, marketing, and business development to drive revenue growth and market expansion

  • Identify new market opportunities and lead initiatives to increase market penetration in utility-scale solar and energy storage

  • Lead, scale, and manage sales, marketing, and business development teams in a high-growth environment

  • Own the full sales life cycle from prospecting and origination through negotiation and closing of complex agreements, including master supply agreements

  • Build and maintain senior-level relationships with key customers, partners, developers, EPCs, and industry stakeholders

  • Set revenue targets, growth objectives, and manage budgets for commercial operations

  • Provide accurate forecasting, financial reporting, and performance updates to executive leadership and the board

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and finance teams to ensure commercially optimised and technically competitive solutions

  • Develop pricing strategies, validate key cost drivers, support value-engineering initiatives, and establish pricing benchmarks

  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer behaviour to inform strategy and positioning

  • Establish and track leading sales KPIs, including customer engagement metrics and pipeline activity

  • Represent the organization at major industry events, conferences, and strategic customer meetings

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; technical degree or MBA preferred

  • Extensive experience in the renewable energy sector, particularly utility-scale solar and energy storage

  • 10+ years of experience within a Solar EPC environment covering business development, pre-sales engineering, and cost estimating

  • Proven track record of originating, negotiating, and closing complex commercial and long-cycle transactions

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and scale high-performing commercial or business development teams

  • Strong strategic, analytical, and financial acumen, including budgeting and revenue modelling

  • Deep understanding of solar technologies, tracker systems, and key cost drivers

  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, high-growth, and entrepreneurial environments
