Hiring Overview

We are seeking a strategic and experienced Head of Design to lead the planning, design, and delivery of the next data center projects in Japan.

This individual will play a critical leadership role in scaling our local infrastructure footprint, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of safety and quality. Fluency in Japanese is a must.


Key Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end development lifecycle of construction and design projects, from concept to commissioning.

  • Oversee planning, architecture, engineering, procurement, construction management, and quality control processes.

  • Manage external consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with business goals.

  • Drive cost, schedule, and risk management strategies across all active and upcoming projects.

  • Ensure strict compliance with Japanese building codes, environmental regulations, and global standards.

  • Develop and implement scalable design templates for future facilities.

  • Collaborate with business development and operations teams to support site selection, feasibility studies, and long-term asset planning.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field.

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in design, construction, or project management, ideally within mission-critical infrastructure (e.g., data centers, industrial, energy).

  • Proven track record managing construction projects in Japan.

  • Strong understanding of local permitting, safety codes, and construction practices.

  • Fluency in Japanese is a MUST. Business level English is highly preferred.

  • Demonstrated leadership and stakeholder management skills in cross-cultural environments.
