WTG Commissioning Engineer – Pre Assembly

WTG Commissioning Engineer – Pre Assembly required for a Major Offshore Wind developer in Denmark.

Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside the Clients Electrical Systems Package site representatives and Client Commissioning Engineers to deliver commissioning activities in the capacity of Client’s Engineer.
  • Drive the on-site commissioning scope to ensure alignment with the overall project programme and milestones.
  • Act as Client witness and provide formal sign-off for Stage 1 Commissioning of offshore Wind Turbines.
  • Provide technical support to Project Senior Authorised Persons (SAP) and M&E Engineers during pre-commissioning and commissioning phases.
  • Support the Client Commissioning Manager (Lead) and SCADA Commissioning Manager in coordinating and executing commissioning activities.
  • Operate primarily from the pre-assembly yard, overseeing and verifying pre-commissioning activities prior to offshore installation.
  • Conduct initial investigation of technical incidents and non-conformities, ensuring accurate reporting and escalation where required.
  • Verify testing of alarms, controls, and indications across substation equipment and SCADA systems.
  • Oversee commissioning of LV/MV/HV switchgear and associated components, ensuring compliance with HV Safety Rules and project procedures.
  • Coordinate daily activities under a 12-hour / 7-day working schedule, typically on a 14/14 rotation (or as otherwise agreed).

Requirements

  • Relevant technical education (e.g., Electrical Engineering Degree or HNC) or equivalent qualification.
  • Certification in accordance with VDE 0105-100 as Switching Operator (Schaltberechtigter), or eligibility to obtain certification through appropriate training.
  • GWO Basic Safety Training.
  • GWO Enhanced First Aid (Ersthelfer Offshore DGUV).
  • HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training).
  • Valid offshore medical fitness certificate.
  • Preferably 66kV 8VM3 switchgear user training.
  • Demonstrable experience as an Electrical Commissioning Engineer within MV/HV assets (Client or Contractor environment).
  • Strong knowledge of testing alarms, controls, and indications from substation equipment through to SCADA systems.
  • Proven experience commissioning LV/MV/HV switchgear and associated protection systems.
  • Working knowledge of protection relays, including IEC 61850 and GOOSE communications (desirable).
  • Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) (desirable).
  • Solid understanding of HV Safety Rules and safe systems of work.
  • Strong planning, coordination, and problem-solving capability with a proactive, self-starting approach.
  • Fluent written and spoken English with effective communication skills.
