Taylor Hopkinson is recruiting for a Grid Connection Engineer to work for a leading developer of offshore wind power.

Role

  • Electrical system design of wind farms with a strong focus on interconnection requirements
  • Work alongside the transmission system operator on the electrical design and transmission system for offshore wind farms
  • Ensure that electrical design is compliant with the US interconnection codes and standards
  • Work with design team in Europe to confirm technical requirements are transferred to the US
  • Manage the grid connection application processes, including reviewing the System Impact Study of the wind farm, preparing electrical system design reports and verifying grid code compliance
  • Follow grid developments with regard to capacity and support other projects and business development in the US region

Requirements

  • Ideally degree educated in Electrical Engineering or demonstrable experience in Electrical engineering
  • In-depth understanding of simulation of electrical systems and simulation software tools such as PSS/E or Power Factory
  • Understanding of the design of electrical systems of wind farms
  • Knowledge of the electrical design of wind turbine generators and their control systems
  • Understanding of the US grid codes and connection processes for offshore wind farms
  • Strong communication skills
