An Unique and Exciting opportunity for a Technical Expert in Wind Turbine Generator to join an established technology and engineering organisation in the renewable energy sector. A core pillar and differentiator for our client's business is the high calibre engineering consulting they provide to major players in the wind industry, particularly in the rotating machinery space. This role ideally will be based in Colorado. Ability in both technical consulting and communication skills are the key to this role.

Responsibilities

  • Failure analysis, performance upgrade assessments, repair reviews, technology reviews and other technical work
  • Scoping projects, together with the commercial team and engineering managers
  • Project management and report writing
  • Delivering engineering work, both office based and in the field visits (uptower, factory floor)
  • Leadership and mentoring as the internal expert on the generator or electrical system
  • Contributing to brand awareness activities, such as conference presentations and webinars
  • Preparing technical presentations and supporting sales team with 'technical sell' that is required to win business
  • Conducting all work following safety protocols and always conducting activities with a safety first mindset

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Advanced degree or equivalent deeper technical experience
  • 3+ years of experience in wind turbine experience
  • Expertise and experience in areas such as:
    • Wind turbine generator design, manufacturing and operation
    • Wind turbine control system operation and design
    • Data analytics skills to detect generator and electrical related issues
    • Knowledge of the latest predictive maintenance techniques for wind turbines.
  • A candidate with experience at a turbine OEM, Component OEM, leading renewable power producer or consulting firm will be the preferred applicant.
  • Right to work in the USA
  • Strong communication skills - ability to develop and deliver presentations & condition monitoring reports, liaise effectively with customers and contribute to internal project meetings
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Comfortable with project management and client liaison
  • Innovative in problem-solving
  • Willing to learn new skills such as software packages and areas of engineering (Previous experience with LabVIEW and python preferred)
  • Able to work without close supervision in a flexible environment
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members in our international offices
  • Ability to work in wind turbines; fit to climb, standing for 8 hours a day and ability to lift 40 lbs
