Taylor Hopkinson have been retained by a leading Engineering Services company in the PV industry to source a Project Manager in the UK. The successful candidate will be working on the construction of large scale projects throughout Europe and Africa.

The candidate’s responsibility will be to plan, monitor, and support in the execution of selected activities and coordinate selected parties involved in the realization of a typical PV solar energy plant based on the scope of responsibility and instructions given by the Senior Project Manager. Tasks will include the following:

  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors during execution of the projects
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Assist the Senior Project Manager in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation
  • Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Report and escalate to management as needed
  • Manage relationships with selected stakeholders as instructed by the Senior Project Manager
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors as instructed by the Senior Project Manager
  • Perform risk management to minimise project risks
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
  • Meet with selected stakeholders to take detailed ordering briefs and clarify specific requirements of each project
  • Delegate project tasks based on junior staff members’ individual strengths, skill sets and experience levels
  • Track project performance, specifically to analyse the successful completion of short and long-term goals
  • Meet budgetary objectives and make adjustments to project constraints based on financial analysis
  • Develop comprehensive project plans to be reported to the Senior Project Manager
  • Use and continually develop supervision and management skills
  • Develop spreadsheets, diagrams and process maps to document needs
  • Manage efficiently and orderly the project data rooms (virtual and non virtual) in order to keep everything updated and in order
  • Preliminary analysis of a project technical and financial predicaments based on the existing data, including EPC cost, preliminary analysis of the costs of subcontractors and technology vendors
  • Analysis of the equipment supply, logistic circumstances, and the capacity of the local subcontractors / installation companies
  • Preliminary choice over the subcontractors as well as the technology vendors
  • Supervise drafting of the preliminary technical design and preliminary EPC budget
  • Review of the relevant documentation, including, but not limited to, EPC Contracts, equipment certifications, project documents, work records, operation and maintenance manual
  • Final selection of the sub-contractors following the client’s desiderata and coherently with the best-in-class in view of the specific region and project requirements
  • General EPC contract administration and supervision, including – among other – regular reviews of the reporting, site meetings, quality assurance, contractor records, construction program, spare parts stock levels, tools and equipment
  • Verifying the procedures and standards for the engineering, acceptance procedure and certification, inspections, handling and commissioning, and handling of exceptions
  • Verify the workplace Health and Safety and Environment (HSE) management
  • Review of the policies put in place for site management, including access, security, lighting, fencing, and clean up
  • Monitor all the phases of the execution, including site set up, site security, civil works/trenching, installation, monitoring, cabling and wiring, testing and commissioning
  • Monitoring to guarantee the operational compliance to meet the different countries` EPC related local law and approvals



  • 1 to 2 years or more of experience in project management
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in the PV solar energy industry
  • Fluent English


  • Engineer degree (especially in a relevant subject, such as renewable energy, power generation, electrical etc.)
  • Direct experience in the engineering, procurement and construction of a PV solar energy plant
  • Other languages (e.g. Russian, Chinese, Spanish etc.)
