Our client is a global leader in development and management of solar energy projects and looking to appoint a Commercial Manager based out of London (or UK with travel to London when required). This role will play a key role in securing revenues in the power markets, collaborating with the wider Power Marketing Team and Development organization in country to support the commercial goals and objectives.


  • Research, understand and follow developments in policy and regulation in relation to energy sales and Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) both utility and corporate in UK and other European markets as required providing briefing and support to the wider team.
  • Support structuring and negotiation of PPAs and other power sales activity.
  • Follow and understand the CFD and other RES auctions and support the development of bidding strategy and engagement in contracts.
  • Secure physical route to market to support virtual PPAs, minimizing basis risk.
  • Analyse and asses, the pricing and contract terms of potential deal structures.
  • Interact with utilities to keep track of developments in the PPA market and evolving innovative solutions for power marketing to support development of the solar pipeline.
  • Run procurement processes to secure PPA off-take for solar projects and sell environmental attributes.
  • Track future developments with respect to wholesale market regulation, ancillary services, design and metering, etc.
  • Understand metering, data flows and other key aspects of dispatching and scheduling power and develop processes to support our activities in the market with the relevant teams
  • Support the process and managing the accreditation process for securing environmental attributes for projects.
  • Work closely with the Business Development Manager Battery Energy Storage and Flexibility to understand revenue opportunities and procure agreements to support the development of collocated storage in UK and other markets.
  • Manage handover of PPA documentation to support transition of responsibility to Asset Management


  • Strong understanding of fundamental drivers in the European power markets
  • European energy policy and regulation in relation to renewables and PPAs
  • Familiar with power purchase agreements and other energy sales structures.
  • Familiar with RES auctions, environmental attributes, embedded benefits, and other relevant sources of value for a solar project.
  • Understanding of energy price risk management and hedging approaches
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience in negotiating PPAs with utility off-takers
  • Solid track record in structuring, negotiation and execution of deals with commercial approach.
  • Strong project and process management skills with experience collaborating with multiple teams on simultaneous projects.
  • Good interpersonal, leadership and collaboration skills.
  • 3-5 yrs. of industry experience, with strong internal stakeholder and external market engagement.
  • Ability to communicate in English and preferably other European languages aligned to our pipeline.
  • Highly self-motivated and organized individual with ability to work to transaction deadlines.
  • Willing and able to travel in Europe as required
