Floating Wind Farm,Offshore Wind

Taylor Hopkinson has been exclusively retained by a leading offshore engineering services business to appoint a Director of Renewable Energy.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering the diversification of their service offering into new markets, with a particular focus on the fast-growing offshore wind sector. The ideal candidate will bring technical knowledge of offshore wind or green hydrogen technologies, business development acumen and the ability to engage effectively with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

This role can be home-based with a preference for candidates based in the East of England or Scotland.


  • Undertake business development activities to identify clients, generate leads and close orders in the offshore wind and green hydrogen markets.
  • Work with the Board to develop a successful strategy and develop the team and resources to deliver.
  • Direct, manage and deliver the sales pipeline for offshore wind services.
  • Build positive awareness of company capabilities for offshore wind equipment and design services.
  • Develop a strategic plan in conjunction with company goals for offshore wind services and the wider offshore renewables sector.
  • Work with Marketing Director to deliver market intelligence around key clients and projects to assist with brand presence and reach.
  • Engage with membership organisations and attend trade shows, conferences, renewable sector events and client sites internationally.
  • Create sales toolkit to support sales activities, including brochures/PDFs, capability and experience references, proposal templates and information to produce an actionable sales plan.
  • Prepare commercial reports to be shared at corporate sales meetings and for inclusion in Board Reports.
  • Establish relationships with engineers and procurement staff at top 10 installation contractors, developers and foundation innovators.
  • Participate in internal strategy meetings when necessary.


  • Degree or Masters in relevant subject
  • CEng status, MBA or PM qualifications are desirable though not essential
  • Demonstrable experience delivering sales of installation products or services to the offshore wind industry.
  • Significant experience at senior level with offshore wind and/or the wider renewable energy sector
  • Strong network of European business and procurement contacts within EPIs, installation contractors, developers and floating foundation innovators.
  • Track record of achieving step-change sales growth
  • Experience of preparing £multimillion contracts.
  • Natural communicator with the ability to collaborate and influence others at all levels
  • Innovative thinker with the ability to explore imaginative ways of leveraging the market and bringing new solutions to the client.
