Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, the candidate’s responsibility will (together with the CIO) include origination, supporting the due diligence and project finance processes, analysing the commercial proposition, negotiating all key transactional documents, and presenting for financial investment decision new investments in the offshore wind power sector in Europe. Along with the broader business development team, this position will provide financial and commercial assessment of the investment propositions which will be presented to the board of directors. The role will also support and guide the broader teams across key functions including due diligence, financial modelling, market analysis, financial analysis and market research. Critical to this person’s success will be bringing not only specialized financial experience but equally mature influencing and management skills.

The role 

  • Responsible for reviewing and stress testing financial models
  • Lead and/or assist in the coordination of due diligence
  • Assist in the growth of the London development team by taking initiative for a variety of internal tasks
  • Responsible for writing investment memorandums
  • Preparing internal investment presentations summarizing key findings from internal and external sources
  • Accountable for translating financial analysis into concise recommendations
  • Review market data to identify possible acquisition targets
  • Contribute to strategy to acquire potential acquisition targets
  • Lever knowledge and experience to extract value from possible acquisition benefits

The requirements

  • Ideally 7-10 years experience of investment banking, private equity, management consulting, or other transaction-related experience, preferably with a background in power and renewables, or infrastructure
  • Business undergraduate degree (Economics or Finance) or related field
  • Masters of Business Administration, Finance, CFA, ACA, or other advanced designations considered an asset
  • Strong understanding of applied investment and valuation methodologies
  • Demonstrated experience valuing corporate or project-level acquisition opportunities, with a preference for experience with complex project finance modelling
  • Strong technical/computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Bloomberg) essential
  • Experience dealing with and analysing development and construction risks
  • Ability to quickly identify key value drivers in a project
  • Proven ability to think strategically and to translate complex financial inputs into concise financial analysis, transaction thesis and recommendations
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with diverse internal and external stakeholders and counterparties
